Weird Al Yankovic is heading to IFC as the new bandleader and co-host of Scott Aukerman’s Comedy Bang! Bang! He’ll be taking the reins from Kid Cudi, who appeared in his final Comedy Bang! Bang! episode as bandleader in December.
On the weekly half-hour show, comedy, TV, movies, music and sports stars join Aukerman for banter and over-the-top sketches. Production starts today on the upcoming season with 20 half-hour episodes beginning this spring on IFC.
Yankovic’s recent album Mandatory Fun became the first comedy album to debut at the top of the Billboard chart. The four-time Grammy-winning singer and songwriter’s parodies of pop culture’s biggest tunes include “Amish Paradise,” “Eat It,” “White & Nerdy” and his latest “Word Crimes.” Comedy Bang! Bang! marks his first return to a weekly TV series since starring in The Weird Al Show in 1997.
