IFC has picked up “Comedy Bang! Bang!” for a fifth season, the network announced today. A unique hybrid of mock talkshow combined with offbeat sketches, “Comedy Bang! Bang” is now in its fourth season. The fifth season, slated for next year, will contain 20 new half-hour episodes.
Since premiering in June 2012, the comedy program — hosted by Scott Aukerman — has attracted guests as varied as Jon Hamm, Anna Kendrick and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic. It was spun off from the podcast of the same name, which Aukerman continues to host.
Aukerman also co-created the Internet sensation “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” with its eponymous star and B.J. Porter, which recently landed big guests such as Brad Pitt and President Barack Obama.
“Scott has created an absurd world that attracts the biggest names in pop culture,” Says IFC president Jennifer Caserta. “They show up, do insane things and oftentimes come back for more. We have no idea how he does it, but we’re not about to start asking questions now.”
