GameStop confirmed some rumors Monday and started up trade-ins for iOS devices. Now the banners showing up on the storefront around during the weekend were a big clue too.
Nicknamed iTrades, the promo lets US visitors trade in virtually any generation of iPad, iPhone, and iPod for either cash or store credit. Devices only need to be free of personal engravings and significant damage.
The game retailer hasn’t said what its typical trade-in prices are, although it’s likely to be significantly below whatever GameStop will price the devices at itself.
No mention has been made as to whether GameStop will offer new devices along with used versions. It may start out with used equipment since it doesn’t need to get official Apple approval. Sales of mobile hardware at GameStop focus on Android tablets so far.
