Ryan Coogler’s superhero epic Black Panther keeps defying expectations, dropping just 47% and now grossing an estimated $108 million in its second weekend. That’s the second best second weekend of all time, behind only Star Wars: Force Awakens ($149m) and ahead of Jurassic World ($106m).

The film has now raced past the $400 million mark in the U.S. in just 10 days. Overseas, it earned a further $83.8 million for an international tally of $304 million and global haul so far of $704 million.

Within the next few days it will pass the total domestic tallies of Captain America: Civil War ($408M) and Iron Man 3 ($409M), should pass Avengers: Age of Ultron ($459M) and has a serious shot of ultimately eclipsing The Avengers ($623M) which is the No. 1 superhero title of all time unadjusted for inflation.

Three new films hit with New Line’s R-rated comedy Game Night scoring not only strong reviews but a solid $16.6 million to nab second place. The critics loved Alex Garland’s sci-fi film Annihilation, but it disappointed on arrival with a mere $11 million and a poor C CinemaScore from audiences. Finally the young adult tale Every Day made $3.1 million in ninth place. The movie only cost less than $5 million to make.
