Black Panther Will Pass The $500 Million Mark World Wide Today

Marvel Studios‘ Black Panther added $14.5 million domestically on Wednesday (beating The Avengers‘ $13.6 million) and another $14.5 million internationally, for a global day of $29 million. That means the film has already grossed $277.5 million in North America and $213.6 million overseas to bring its worldwide total to $491.1 million. Black Panther will pass the $500 million mark today, after just nine days of release.

The international highlights so far include: UK ($30.4M); Korea ($29.5M); Brazil ($12.5M); Mexico ($11.6M); Australia ($11.6M); France ($10.3M); Taiwan ($8.5M); Indonesia ($7.6M); Germany ($7.2M); Malaysia ($6.2M); Philippines ($5.8M); India ($5.5M); Thailand ($5.4M); Hong Kong ($5.3M); and Italy ($4.3M). This weekend, the movie opens in Russia, Vietnam, Trinidad, Peru and Venezuela. It will open in Japan on March 1st and in China on March 9th.

The film is based on the Marvel Comics character who made his debut in 1966 during Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s epochal Fantastic Four run.
