Premium lens maker Zeiss has struck a deal with with mobile phone accessory brand ExoLens and will release three classy-looking lenses for the iPhone 6 later this year.

The lenses will be wideangle, telephoto and a macro.

Due for launch in the second quarter of 2016, the lenses will initially only be compatible with the Apple iPhone 6/6s; and iPhone 6 Plus/6s Plus, via customized mounting brackets.

In making the announcement at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Zeiss said other lenses compatible with other brand phones are in the works.

The new lenses reflect a growing appetite by the iPhone shooting community for more variety and more range of control,  said Winfried Scherle, executive vice-president of Carl Zeiss AG.

‘The collaboration with ExoLens gives us the opportunity to tap into new target groups and provide ambitious mobile phone photographers with high-quality tools to support their creativity,” he said.

Prices were not set.  Zeiss expects them to ship by the end of June.
