Yelp Launches in Germany

Posted by at 11:11 pm on July 21, 2010

Yelp  today announced the availability of Yelp Germany.   Representing the second non-English language country for Yelp, Germans can now access Yelp.de to read and share reviews about great local businesses in their native language.

“Germans have long had an appreciation for great food and cultural spirit,” said Geoff Donaker, Chief Operating Officer of Yelp. “Couple that heritage with a country renowned for business and technical prowess, and the combination of old and new strongly aligns with Yelp’s mission of discovering great local businesses through digital means, which makes the site a natural fit for Germany.”

Yelp Germany follows the May 2010 release of Yelp France, the June 2009 release of Yelp Ireland and the January 2009 release of Yelp UK. Yelp UK now sees over 1 million unique users a month since launching 18 months ago – an even faster growth rate than Yelp experienced in its first US market of San Francisco and a strong indicator that Yelp is poised to gain the same type of traction in Europe.

Yelp for iPhone and Yelp for Business Owners will be available shortly after the launch of Yelp.de
