Comcast has partnered with Intel and Pace to develop a new hybrid Xfinity TV set-top-box. The device gets its “hybrid” title as it blends several technologies including tru2way and IP capabilities. It will allow users to experience cloud-base TV, live TV, On Demand and DVR all through one STB.

Pace developed the STV using an Intel processor and graphics card, which allows the device to offer a sophisticated interface with smart TV functions. These include the incorporation of apps and the integration of Facebook among other interactive options.

The set-top box features an architecture that leverages Comcast’s hybrid fiber coax network and DOCSIS 3.0 to deliver the new guide and user experience. The new device also includes DVR capabilities with a high capacity hard drive.
