Vodafone is Now Selling Micro SIM Cards

Vodafone will begin selling non-Apple branded Micro SIM cards. The wireless carrier has confirmed to Pocket-lint that it will begin offering the miniature SIM cards in the “not too distant future.” Currently the only devices using these cards, which are functionally equivalent to a regular SIM card in a smaller form factor, are Apple iPhones and iPads.

Pocket-lint has speculated that the generic micro-devices might end up in either Samsung’s new Nexus Prime, which is expected in November, or Nokia’s new Windows Phone 7 devices. While this speculation may or may not be accurate, what is true is that the size of the micro SIM will make them attractive to phone manufacturers in the future, much as the microSD cards that have become commonplace in today’s smartphones.

While Vodafone has confirmed its plans to sell the non-Apple cards, it has not disclosed pricing or availability.
