Vimeo Offical App Now Listed in the App Store

Vimeo has launched an official iOS app for iPhones, iPod Touch, iPad and iPad 2 that takes advantage of the built-in cameras in the devices or uses existing videos and allows users to edit, tag and upload their own videos, along with managing watch lists of other videos on the popular video-sharing site. The free app works with SD or HD video and also allows social-media sharing.

The app takes full advantage of the built-in cameras, with focus control and grid alignment, and edits using transitions, titles and effects. Music or audio can be added from a user’s iPod library, and finished clips can be saved to the camera roll for further editing or uploaded directly to Vimeo.

Videos already posted to the service can be streamed or downloaded and watched, the latter being ideal for when users may not have an internet connection later (for example on a flight), and videos can easily be shared with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and WordPress. They can also be sent as emails or MMS messages without leaving the app.

The app also lets users like or comment on videos, add them to a Watch Later queue, add their own clips to their Groups, Channels and Albums, browse related videos and shows off stats on daily plays, likes and comments.

The app requires iOS 4.0.1 or later and works with iPhone, iPad and the fourth-generation iPod Touch.
