TriStar Pictures has picked up Annihilation and Ex Machina director Alex Garland’s script “The Toymaker’s Secret with plans to turn it into a combination CG/live-action fantasy film.
The story deals with children’s toys brought to life by a toymaker in Victorian England and who have been living in secret in the same house until the present day. When a new single mother and daughter move into the home, the duo find their world upended.
Garland won’t helm the film, rather his wife Paloma Baeza – a BAFTA and Annie Award winner – will direct. Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich and Cara Speller will produce.
