T-Mobile Confirms Overage Charges for 200MB Plan

Confirming recent rumors, T-Mobile has announced that its low-end data plan will soon be modified to include overage charges. Customers currently signed up for the 200MB/month package do not face additional charges if they exceed the monthly allowance, though the download speeds are throttled after the limit is reached.

The changes will eliminate throttling but charge customers $0.10 for each megabyte of data that exceeds the monthly allowance. Maximum charges, including the 200MB add-on and all overages, will be capped at $40 with a Value plan or $45 with Classic plans.

After the changes are implemented, users will be notified when they exceed 90 percent of their allowance and again when they reach 200MB. Customers will also be given an option to upgrade to a plan with a higher allowance.

The overage charges will be applied beginning August 14
