Sony has officially put the Tablet S up for pre-order on its own online store and other retailers. It will ship on September 16 in the US, with Canada getting it one week later, on the 23rd. The 16GB version retails for $500 and the larger 32GB variant
lists for $600.
The tablet sports a 9.4-inch touchscreen and runs on Android 3.1. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both onboard, as is an IR blaster that makes the devices usable as remote controls for home theater gear. NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 CPU powers the tablet, which also gets a full-size SD card slot.
There is no word on the folding, dual-screen Tablet P, however, which is only due sometime before the end of 2011.
