Sony has rolled out revamped VAIO S and Z models with revised internals and external tweaks. The VAIO S is available in two models, a 13- and 15-inch variants. The 15-inch VAIO S is the powerhouse of the two and incorporates an 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3612QM quad-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz matched with 8GB of RAM. The notebook also includes Nvidia’s latest discrete GeForce GT 640M LE GPU that will work in conjunction with the integrated Intel HD 4000 GPU to either boost performance or save power depending on use.

Users will also have up to 1TB of storage to play with (SSD is also an option), while connectivity options are extensive. The 15-inch VAIO S uses the latest Bluetooth 4.0 specification and incorporates two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port. It will center on a high-quality 1080p IPS display with a resolution of 1600×900 pixels. The two S models will also be available in aluminum or magnesium configurations with the option to upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray.

The range-topping VAIO Z will come standard with a 256GB SSD and will also be powered by a new Intel Ivy Bridge-class processor. Its companion Power Media Dock hides an AMD Radeon HD 7670M processors as well as a Blu-ray drive and USB 3.0 ports. The VAIO Z itself uses Intel’s integrated HD 4000 GPU and offers one USB 3.0 port and an HDMI out. The use of carbon fiber trims it to a svelte 3-pounds.
