Sony Releasing Ultra HD Android TV Sets in United States

Sony is finally preparing to release a trio of televisions running on Android TV in the United States, sets it previewed at CES in January. The 54.6-inch and 64.5-inch X900C, and 74.5-inch X910C are Ultra HD-resolution Triluminos televisions with a very slim almost-frameless design, measuring as thin as 0.2 inches for the majority of the screen, with them also including the X-Reality Pro Picture Engine for upscaling HD content to 4K.

While running on Android TV, it will include the ability to stream from over 600 apps, including Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, and Sling TV, with other games and content also available from the Google Play Store. The screens also include support for Google Cast, voice search, offers personalized content recommendations from Google Play and other apps, and the ability to play PlayStation 3 games over PlayStation Now using a DualShock 4 controller.

The X900C 4K Ultra HD TV with the 55-inch class and 65-inch class screens will cost $2,500 and $4,000 respectively when they ship early next month through Sony and Best Buy stores, with pre-sales for the sets available now. The larger X910C will be shipping later this summer, priced at $5,500. The DualShock 4 controller is available separately.
