Sony has finally unleashed full details on its entry to the tablet market. It will be called, quite simply, the Sony Tablet line.

Two models are available at the outset – the Sony Tablet S and the Sony Tablet P.

The S is designed to be the more direct iPad competitor with a 9.4-inch touchscreen display. The tablet is equipped with an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. It comes pre-loaded with Android 3.1.

The Tablet P seeks to step outside the box and has a dual-screen presentation. Each screen is 5.5 inches and the weight of the device is less than one pound. The two screens can fold on top of each other for portability.

The P also has an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, and includes 4G compatibility, available exclusively through AT&T. Additionally, the P comes equipped with Android 3.2.

Both models have rear and front cameras and SD card slots, and both are “Playstation Certified,” which means they’ll be able to run special games that aren’t available on other tablets.

But more important than the technical specs is the software that will come with each tablet – Sony’s Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited services, Playstation games like Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes, access to the Sony Reader Store, and a digital photo/video album program called Personal Space.

The Tablet S is available in a 16 GB or 32 GB capacity, with retail prices at $499 and $599, respectively
