Snagit Now on Mac

Snagit, a popular screen capture solution for Windows users, has now been designed from the ground up as a native Mac application. The company is celebrating the release with a slew of tutorial videos, and a contest to spread the word about the Mac version — prizes of which include a MacBook Pro, an iPad, and an iPod Touch. The Windows version of the software has more than seven million users, and over 100,000 people participated in the public beta program, which began 11 months ago. The $50 program’s current version includes a license for both the Windows and Mac versions.

Snagit includes standard features for screen capture, including selecting regions, hotkey capture and export in a variety of formats. The software distinguishes itself by also allowing captures to be shared to its own Screencast.com hosting site or other methods including email and FTP; the easy editing of captures with callouts, arrows and shapes; and a simple method of grouping multiple captures into a single image. Snagit also includes the ability to capture full web pages, even when the scrolled portion is not on-screen.

Snagit for Mac is available as a 30-day free trial, and costs $50 for a license which is good for both Mac and Windows versions. It requires an Intel Mac running 10.5.8 or higher.
