Skype’s Enhanced Chat Experience Fixes Message Synchronization Between Devices

Microsoft has finally fixed the way Skype synchronizes messages across multiple devices, the company has revealed, something that it hinted at late last year. Part of a larger update across multiple platforms, the change will allow users to read all received messages on an account regardless of whether a device is signed in or not, with messages read on one device causing it to be shown as read on all others.

The Skype blog advises the update also means messages sent to offline users will be received when they next appear online. The mobile apps are said to include optimizations to help with overall app performance, improved battery life, start-up times, and resuming the app.

Future updates slated to appear in the coming months include notifications targeted to devices actively being used, in an effort to avoid pushing notifications where they will not be read, and a roaming “Favorites contact list” that will synchronize between devices.
