She-Ra And The Princesses of Power Needs No He-Man

Netflix’s animated She-Ra and the Princesses of Power series has proven both a critical and popular hit for the streaming giant, with a large fan community already having assembled behind this reboot of the iconic 1980s cartoon and action figure property.

The original was a spin-off of the even more famous He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series and so there’s the obvious question hanging around – will the loin clothed masculine one make an appearance in future episodes?

Showrunner Noelle Stevenson spoke with Inverse this week and she immediately dismissed the possibility, saying the character would be a challenge for the modern version of the She-Ra universe:

“He-Man is not really on the table for this iteration of She-Ra at all… It would be a challenge, I think, to bring He-Man to life in the present day. Even more so than She-Ra. He’s a very iconic character. It’d be a lot of fun to incorporate him into the world of She-Ra, but I don’t know what my what my approach to that would be.

It’s sort of a dance of figuring out how to incorporate the larger lore of Masters of the Universe without needing to visit Eternia or see these very, very iconic characters appear. Just letting it be about She-Ra’s story and her being disconnected from where she came from, from her family on Eternia.”

The second season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is expected to air sometime next year.
