Select HP LaserJet and MFP Units Will Gain AirPrint Support with New Firmware

HP will begin implementing a worldwide firmware update to select LaserJet and multi-function printer (MFP) models to enable wireless network printing from mobile devices as well as connect to HP’s cloud service and print remotely. The update will add to the number of models accessible by the iOS feature AirPrint, which allows devices running iOS 4.2 or later the ability to print from selected apps and native programs to AirPrint-enabled HP printers.

HP ePrint wireless direct printing allows users to connect directly to supported printers from any Wi-Fi enabled mobile device using a peer-to-peer connection via a companion app. These connections are not only available to home or office networks but also public print centers such as FedEx Office. HP ePrint apps are available for iOS as well as Android and other mobile platforms.

The models that will be enabled in the update to gain ePrint wireless direct printing as well as AirPrint compatibility are the LaserJet Pro CP1025nw color printer and the LaserJet Pro M1217nfw MFP. Gaining AirPrint functionality only will be the LaserJet Pro P1102 and 1102w series, the LaserJet Pro P1560 and P1600 series, and the LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP 175nw model.
