Samsung today officially launched its NX100 mirrorless camera. It includes, an APS-C sensor and a three-inch AMOLED screen. Ease of use features include the unique i-Function lens, a priority lens mode, and Smart Filter.

The i-Function lens allows users to use their left hand to change settings without the need to take the camera off target. The function allows them to quickly toggle between shutter speed, aperture, EV, WB, and ISO (up to 1640) quickly during shooting. The priority lens mode also makes switching between lenses an easier proposition for the non-pro. Each lens is clearly marked with icons that illustrate their main usages, so beginners can quickly understand which lens they need to select for any given scene.   The camera will recognize the lens type and automatically configure the settings that will best match with the attached lens. Thislast feature will work with Samsung lenses launching in early 2011.

The Smart Filter function allows users to use playback mode to add seven different effects to the picture such as vignette, soft focus, fish-eye, or tilt-shift miniature effects. The camera also supports HD movie recording at 720P and a Sound Picture mode that allows audio recording to capture moments while taking still photos. At launch, the lens lineup will include a 20-50mm lens.

A small 20mm wide angle Pancake lens will be added after launch. The two additional specialized lenses will available in the first half of 2011; one a 60mm Macro lens, and the other a 18-200mm Super Zoom lens. Three more lenses will be introduced in the second half of 2011, and include 16mm, 85mm, and 16-80mm lenses. Other planned accessories are a viewfinder, flash, and GPS tracker.

The NX100 will be available in black and brown, although the official launch date and pricing has yet to be announced.
