Romancing Saga 3Square Enix began collaborating with Saga Prefecture of Japan using their RPG series of the same name in Romancing SaGa back in 2014 to help spread the awareness of the traditional values of the Japanese prefecture together with their legendary RPG. The collaboration is back for a third year in a row.

The collaboration event, called “Romancing Saga” (with the kanji of “Saga” from the prefecture name) started out in 2014 with a “Romancing Saga Lounge” event held at the Roppongi Hills Café in Tokyo. At the event, we got to see some interesting “Arita-yaki” porcelain plates, a form of art native to the Saga prefecture for over 400 years, featuring work by SaGa series illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi.

Last year, they followed up with the Romancing Saga 2 collaboration event, where they wrapped an entire train with artwork from the SaGa series. This year, for Romancing Saga 3, they will do more with events and original goods to help promote the series and the charm of Saga Prefecture. While we still don’t know what we’ll see from this year’s event, Square Enix and Saga Prefecture have various events planned out, and will make an announcement in the near future.

Additionally, a “Romancing Saga Exhibition” will be held in Saga City’s prefectural art museum starting on July 30, 2016. The event will showcase more artwork from the series than ever before, and it’ll also include work for SaGa: Scarlet Grace, which is currently in development for PlayStation Vita. There will also be exclusive development documents for fans to check out.
