Roku today began pushing out a major firmware update to Roku Internet players to polish the interface. The 2.8 upgrade lets viewers reorder channels on the home screen and has a new grid layout for the Channel Store to help find new content sooner. Time is also now important and brings both a clock on the home screen and time controls.
The update doesn’t yet bring some of the major additions promised earlier, such as Hulu Plus streaming. Roku also notes that reordering channels requires the new remote that launched at the same time as new Roku players.
