Virtual ConsoleNintendo has announced the schedule for its Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign.

The Trial Campaign was announced during a recent Nintendo Direct video, with one Virtual Console game discounted to £0.30 / $0.30 for 30 days. The first game for the promotion, Balloon Fight has already launched, and will be available for the discounted price until February 21.

The rest of the Trial Campaign schedule is listed below:

  • F-Zero (SNES): February 20 – March 21
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES): March 20 – April 18
  • Kirby’s Adventure (NES): April 17 – May 16
  • Super Metroid (SNES): May 15 – June 13
  • Yoshi (NES): June 12 – July 11
  • Donkey Kong (NES): July 15 – August 13

Virtual Console games on Wii U will be enhanced for the new platform and offer GamePad-only play, Miiverse support and save game restore points to pick up exactly where you left off, regardless of whether the game originally had a save feature. It was also revealed that Wii U Virtual Console games in Europe will run in 50Hz like their Wii versions. 50Hz was the standard frame rate before HD in Europe, and meant that games would run with borders and slower than their 60Hz counter parts in other regions.

Nintendo will launch the full Virtual Console service on Wii U in late spring, with both NES and SNES games available and Game Boy Advance games releasing soon after. Pricing for Virtual Console games will be the same as on the Wii, with NES titles available for £3.49 / $4.99 and £5.49 / $7.99 for SNES games. Discounts will be available for games already purchased on Wii, with NES games lowered to 99p / $0.99 and SNES titles £1.49 / $1.49.
