Phottix Announces USB 3.0 Multi-Format Media Card Reader

Photography accessory maker Phottix is offering a new, USB 3.0 (USB2 compatible) Turbo USB card reader that accepts a wide variety of cards in five main formats: Compact Flash (CF), xD, Memory Stick (MS), MultiMedia Cards (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD), as well as MicroSD. The plug-and-play device is compatible with Windows 2000​ or later and Mac OS X​. All five card slots can be used at the same time, according to the company.

The reader can handle most varieties of the formats as well. For Compact Flash, it will work with original CF cards, CFI WA, CFI Picture, CF Pro/Elite/Ultra, HS, Ultra II, Extreme/Extreme II, CF II, CF Type HDD, CF 533X and 600X, and CF 3/4/4.1/5 cards as well as Micro Drive and MagicStor variants. All versions of Memory Stick (MS) cards are supported as well, from MS v1.43 through the Pro, Duo and Pro Duo lines, the XC, Micro and HG Micro versions and the XC and Pro Duo 2.

For xD cards, supported formats include the S type, M type, H type and M+ type. Secure Digital supported types include SD Pro/Ultra/Elite/Ultra II/Extreme and HS; MiniSD and MiniSDHC, MicroSD and MicroSDHC (all classes); SDHC 133x and 150x along with classes 2,4,6 and 10; and versions 1.0 to 3.0 UHS-I inclusive, along with SDXC.

Supported MultiMedia Card (MMC) versions include MMC 4.0 Plus, MMC HS, the RS-MMC variants, MMC Mobile, MMC plus 200X, Micro MMC (with adapter), and MMC versions 3.x, 4, 4.1 and 4.2.

The unit is available now and sells for $34 plus shipping and handling.
