Ouya has released a limited edition version of its Android-based game console. At the same time as revealing the white edition, available just in the United States, the company released a firmware update to existing versions of the console, which introduces an updated menu system and support for USB-connected external storage.

The white edition, available to pre-order at a higher $129 price, includes both a white game console casing and a similarly-colored controller. The extra cost compared to the $99 original also includes an upgrade for its internal storage, moving from 8GB to 16GB, while the rest of the specifications, such as the Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and small form factor, remain the same. Ouya expects for customers to receive their order in time for the holidays, if the order is placed before December 8th.

The firmware update, dubbed Abominable Snowman by the team, adds a slicker menu system that the company says is “more intuitive” and “visually appealing.” Double tapping the Ouya button on the controller now brings up a system menu without exiting the game, developers can now allow for remote game installs from the browser, and the beta external storage update will allow games to be installed to the drive instead of on the console’s limited memory.
