NVIDIA and Samsung Still Don’t Have Plans To Bring Galaxy R to the States

NVIDIA and Samsung have once again officially revealed the Galaxy R handset. This time around, however, the company revealed that the device is coming to North and Eastern Europe, South East and West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China and is already available in Sweden. Curiously absent from the list is North America.

No reason for the omission is given, though some believe it has to do with the large, iPhone-like button on the device.

The phone is Android 2.3-based and carries a 4.19-inch touchscreen, but its cornerstone is the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. Although not as fasta as the Exynos chip in the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy R’s GeForce graphics allow for hardware-accelerated Adobe Flash and 1080p video playback. There is 8GB of built-in storage space expandable on the phone thanks to a microSD card slot.

Pricing for the handset hasn’t been revealed, athough it’s already on sale in Sweden.
