Microsoft Mobile will be the new corporate name for Nokia after the Finnish firm wrote to its customers in order to detail the transition that will take place once the sale has been completed.

An email to its business customers, which was reported by Tracy And Matt’s technology blog,, stated that the sale will see a new Microsoft Finnish subsidiary set up that will be known as Microsoft Mobile and run the Devices & Services arm once owned by Nokia.

“With the completion of this transaction, a Microsoft Finnish affiliate assumes responsibility for your personal data and the contractual relationships for the products and services related to this business,” stated the email.

The email, which is penned by members of staff from both Nokia and Microsoft, explains the wider data transfer between the two companies and states that customers “should experience no difference as a result of the sale.”

Nokia and Microsoft’s message went on to state that the former will run other parts of its business, such as the HERE location-based products and services, and that “personal data and your contractual relationship relating to these Nokia products and services remains with Nokia.”
