Pac-Man Vs. is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer as part of the latest entry in the Namco Museum series. Namco Museum for Nintendo Switch will include 10 classic arcade games: Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaga ’88, Dig Dug, The Tower of Druaga, Sky Kid, Rolling Thunder, Rolling Thunder 2, Splatterhouse and Tank Force. It will also include a version of Pac-Man Vs., which was designed by Nintendo and originally released on GameCube in 2003.
The GameCube original was included as a pack-in with Pac-Man World 2. Pac-Man Vs. utilized the GameCube’s link cable support for Game Boy Advance. One player controlled Pac-Man on the Game Boy Advance’s screen, while up to three other players controlled ghosts on a television screen, but had a limited view of the play field. The goal for those playing on the GameCube was to chase down Pac-Man before he could snarf a screenful of dots.
Bandai Namco has confirmed that four-player Pac-Man Vs. games will require two Switch consoles. Players will be able to sync three Joy-Cons to one of the Switch consoles, with a fourth Joy-Con used by the player controlling Pac-Man on the other console. According to screenshots released by Bandai Namco, players will also have the option to play a single-console version of Pac-Man Vs. with three players teaming up as ghosts to chase down a computer-controlled Pac-Man.
Pac-Man Vs. was re-released as part of Namco Museum DS for Nintendo DS and was later ported to mobile phones. Namco Museum for Nintendo Switch will launch July 28 in North America. The game will cost $29.99.
