Nike Bringing Some FuelBand SE Features to Earlier Model

Despite launching an updated model, Nike has confirmed it will be providing some features from the Fuelband SE to its older FuelBand. New firmware and an app update will be available to users of the preceding model, though it is not clear if they will be provided at the Fuelband SE’s November 6th launch or shortly afterward.

Stefan Olander, vice president of digital sport at Nike, told Pocket-lint “Original Nike FuelBand gets all the new features where possible.” These new updates will include the improved algorithms, double tapping to see the time, and support for workout sessions through the smartphone app, though the lack of Bluetooth Low Energy in the earlier model will mean that “Win the Hour” hourly alerts advising on the activity level of the user will not be coming to the device.

The new FuelBand SE improves on the original by adding colored accents, Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, and better water resistance. It will go on sale for $149 at launch early next month.
