This January, visitors to Downtown Disney will have a chance to virtually experience what it’s like going through a mission inside the Star Wars universe.

ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment arm, and its partner, The Void, released more information Wednesday, Oct. 11, on their new multi-sensory and hyper-reality experience called Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire. The virtual reality experience debuts on Jan. 5, 2018, at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. It will be housed where the Vault 28 and Fossil retail stores used to be.

According to the Void officials, teams of up to four people will don virtual reality headsets and other technology that simulates walking through the molten planet of Mustafar. As members of the rebellion, the team’s mission is to recover intelligence from Imperial forces.

The team, disguised as stormtroopers and strapped with blasters, will tag along with a K-2S0 droid and “navigate through an enemy facility walking into danger at every turn.” The members of the team will have to solve puzzles and fight lava monsters.

Void officials describe the 30-minute experience for ages 10 and older as a virtual location-based entertainment. Visitors will experience sight, sound, touch, and smell as they “walk into real-time virtual reality that combines interactive sets, real-time effects, and amazing technology.”

This will be Disneyland Resort’s first virtual reality experience. Knott’s Berry Farm released its own VR Experience called “VR Showdown in Ghost Town,” in which visitors battle ghostly villains in Ghost Town. A ticket for Secret of the Empire is $30 and available online at thevoid.com.
