New Info On The Final Season Plans For Better Call Saul

AMC’s Better Call Saul has just closed out its ten-episode fifth season, leaving just thirteen more episodes to go in a sixth season reportedly aiming to air around Fall 2021.

Co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould recently spoke with Rolling Stone about what the Breaking Bad prequel intends to do in its last hurrah and it sounds as though they’re not short of ideas.

Whilst previously they never really planned too far ahead, that changed while writing the fifth season and will be dramatically shifted with the sixth season. Gould says:

“The fog started to clear slightly about where we were going with all of this. So we started to think about how this all relates to where we’re going. Having said that, I don’t want to say we’ve got it all figured out.

I’m very happy to have Vince in the writers room this season, even though we’re doing it remotely, because we’re getting to finish this thing that we started together. But we’re deep in the struggle. Even though we have ideas about where we’re going, we’re always ready to jettison them.

We have these 13 episodes, and that’s it. There’s no ‘eventually’ anymore.”

Part of that will include story ideas that they intended to include in the fifth season but didn’t make it – meaning they’ll roll over into the sixth season. The aim is to also start shooting the final season sometime this Fall.
