NBC has set premiere dates for new and returning mid-season series, including two high-profile drama spinoffs. “The Blacklist: Redemption,” will take over the Thursday 10 p.m. time period currently occupied by “The Blacklist.” Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the spin-off features villains from the original drama banded together to form an elite team of mercenaries.

Chicago Justice,” the newest installment in the “Chicago” procedural franchise from Dick Wolf and Universal Television, will premiere Sunday, March 5 at 9 p.m. — following the season premiere of Steve Harvey-hosted unscripted series “Little Big Shots” at 8 p.m. Police drama “Shades of Blue,” produced by Universal Television and starring Jennifer Lopez, will debut its second season that night at 10 p.m.

Not on the schedule are two freshman series — comedy “Marlon” and drama “Midnight, Texas,” both of which were given series orders in spring ahead of upfronts.

On the comedy side, “Powerless,” a Warner Bros. workplace series set in the DC Comics universe, will premiere Thursday, Feb. 2 at 8:30 p.m. There it takes over for fellow freshman “The Good Place,” which was designed for a shorter-than-normal 13-episode season. “Trial & Error,” from Warner Bros., will air back-to-back episodes in the 9 p.m. hour beginning Tuesday, March 7 after freshman hit “This Is Us” finishes its run. (The 20th Century Fox Television-produced drama, which is the top-rated new show of the season, returns from hiatus Feb. 2.) NBC will then move another freshman comedy, “Great News,” from Universal Television and executive producers Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and David Miner, into that time period beginning April 25, employing the same back-to-back strategy.
NBC announced last month that freshman drama “Taken,” would premiere in the Monday, 10 p.m. hour beginning Feb. 27, following the premiere of the new season of “The Voice.” “The New Celebrity Apprentice” will premiere Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. and limited series “Emerald City” will premiere Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. — both dates having been announced in August.
