NBC Cuts Ties With Extended Family

The Jon Cryer multi-camera sitcom, Extended Family, has been been cancelled by NBC after one season.

The show was the middle child of NBC’s three sitcoms, distantly trailing the renewed Night Court, while easily beating the renewed for a third season Lopez vs. Lopez.

The show focused on former marrieds Jim (Cryer) and Julia (Abigail Spencer), who, after an amicable divorce, “decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them,”

The show’s production was delayed due to writer’s strikes. Six episodes were completed before the strikes, and the show went back into production four days after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The first season finished its run on March, 26th after 13 episodes, which now the series finale.
