Microsoft and Amazon on Sunday began taking pre-orders for a special edition of the Xbox 360 (order here) to help wrap up another game trilogy. The Gears of War 3 Limited Edition not only has blood red artwork matching the Epic Games line but even has custom startup and disc eject sounds. It’s also a functional upgrade over the regular console with a 320GB hard drive (up from 250GB) and a second wireless controller.
The special run understandably comes with a copy of GOW3 in the box but also special downloadable content, including an unlockable Adam Fenix character for multiplayer as well as immediately accessible Infected Omen skins for the five starting weapons.
Gamers will have the option of getting the console the same day as the game itself ships, September 20. The special run Xbox will cost $399.99.
