Mint.com Updates iPhone App to Manage and Add Accounts on the Go

Mint.com has released an free update to its iPhone financial app today. For the first time, users can register for a new Mint.com account and add online financial accounts directly from the mobile device. The new released  also lets existing users add and manage financial accounts on the go. 

 More than 1 million Mint.com users already take their accounts with them on their smartphones, and mobile users check their accounts more frequently than Web-only users.

“With more than 30,000 new mobile downloads each week, we know that on-the-go money management is essential to our users,” said Aaron Patzer, general manager and vice president of Intuit Inc. Personal Finance and founder of Mint.com. “With the rate of media consumption and communication on mobile devices, it’s crucial that smartphone users have the ability to sign up for Mint and manage their Mint account anytime, anywhere.

 “This update is the step in a significant push to make financial management easier on the go,” said Patzer.  “Users will get more functionality and more options throughout the year.”

Mobile Feature List

  •  Sign up as a new User: Register for a new Mint account directly from the iPhone.
  • Add Financial Institutions: Select from more than 16,000 financial institutions supported by Mint.com.
  • Browse and Access Account Information More Easily: The new look features a “home base” interface instead of tabbed navigation for simpler use.
  • Search Transactions: Easily find transactions in a specific account or across all accounts.

Users can feel safe managing money on the go, with an application-level passcode, read-only account access, and the ability to disable iPhone access to account information at any time from the Mint.com website. 

 The Android app, which launched in May 201, will update later this year.
