Microsoft will launch a flight simulator later this spring for the PC.

The game Microsoft Flight will be available as a free download, but it appears users can supplement their experience by purchasing additional content such as aircraft and environments to explore.

The game will feature realistic locales such as the Big Island of Hawaii, including “region-specific weather patterns, foliage, terrain and landmarks,” says Microsoft in a statement.

Microsoft Flight also features accurately-detailed planes such as the Icon A5 aircraft. Players with a Games for Windows Live account get bonus content, including a Boeing Stearman plane, extra missions and achievements.

Microsoft has launched an official website for the game with videos and other details. There’s also a closed beta for players who want to check out the game early.
