Maria Shriver Returns to Today Show

maria-sMaria Shriver is making her way back into broadcast journalism. After working for various NBC television news programs from 1987 to 2004, the former First Lady of California will return to the network to act as a “special anchor” for “Today.”

Shriver will act as a “special anchor reporting on women’s issues” for the morning news show. She won’t be a part of the daily news grind, but will come on “Today” to talk about “all things women — from faith to finances.”

This is a change of pace for Shriver, who repeatedly turned down TV hosting gigs after she filed for divorce from husband Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also, following the excessive media coverage after the death of Anna Nicole Smith, Shriver had said she had no interest in returning to NBC News.

“It was then that I knew that the TV news business had changed and so had I,” she said at a conference on women in 2007. “I called NBC News and told them I’m not coming back.” Clearly times have changed.
