Discovery Channel has announced Man vs. Bear, a new competition show pitting humans against grizzlies. Ok, these not bears in the wild and it is not going to be death matches
Three bears – Bart, Honey Bump, and Tank – will compete against a trio of humans each week at the bears’ Utah sanctuary in battles of speed, power, and stamina.
These include rolling massive logs or playing tug of war. Five separate challenges will be featured on each episode, all inspired by bear behavior in the wild. In the last round of each show, the remaining two human challengers will go head to head with the 8’6, 1400 lbs. Bart.
Whichever human challenger racks up the most points will emerge as victor. By season’s end, the three highest-scoring competitors will return for a final face-off with the bears.
Emmy Award-winning sports commentator Brandon Tierney and wildlife filmmaker and bear savior Casey Anderson will provide commentary.
The series is set to premiere Wednesday, December 4th on Discovery.
