Livescribe Sky Now for Sale – Wi-Fi Added to the System

Livescribe has announced the Sky Wi-Fi Smartpen, the first digital pen to integrate Wi-Fi technology and cloud services. Sky can convert written words and drawings into images, and can send both the resulting pictures and recorded audio to the user’s personal Evernote account. Writing and audio can then be archived and retrieved at a later date.

Similar to the Echo, the Sky can store up to 800 hours of audio on the highest capacity 8GB storage, though variants offering 2GB and 4GB of storage are also available. The new Wi-Fi connection can be configured from the Sky itself without needing to connect it to a computer, by tapping out the password on stickers inside new Livescribe stationery. The Sky then synchronizes with Evernote every hour automatically, unless an update is forced by the scribe.

The Sky costs $170 for the 2GB version, while the 4GB sells for $200. The 8GB version, complete with a Livescribe smartpen portfolio and a one-year subscription to Evernote Premium, is priced at $250.
