LG has rolled out the DM50D, a 3D-capable monitor with in-built TV tuner. The device is designed to appeal to users wanting a 3D gaming and movie experience, but who were put off by the thought of wearing cumbersome active shutter glasses. The new monitor uses the latest generation of 3D HDTV which use lightweight, polarized glasses making the viewing experience much more comfortable for longer periods.

The DM50D has also been certified as “Flicker Free”, meaning that it will also place less stress on the viewer with its high refresh rates. The monitor also features low image “cross-talk” further reducing strain on users eyes. The glasses needed to watch the display can also be supplied in a clip on style for viewers who need to wear prescription glasses.

In addition to the in-built Digital TV tuner, the monitor also incorporates a 2D to 3D conversion function. The conversion function works whether or not the monitor is connected to a PC and kicks in automatically on games. It also includes a USB Quick View ability that lets users watch videos from a flash drive without needing to boot up a computer.

The LG DM50D monitor will be available in Europe in July followed by other markets worldwide.
