Leak Has Acer Iconia Tab A100 Coming to Walmart for $349

Just one month after Acer admitted that its Android-based Iconia Tab A100 tablet would be arriving later than initially promised, the device appears to have appeared in Walmart’s inventory system.

Although the leak lists Android 3.0 as the operating system, the tablet may have been delayed until it could be equipped with Android 3.2. As part of Huawei’s seven-inch MediaPad unveiling earlier today, the company noted that the latest version of Google’s tablet OS is finally designed for compatibility with tablet displays smaller than 10 inches.

The A100 represents Acer’s second significant attempt to establish itself in the tablet market, as the larger A500 is said to have failed to reach even the Xoom’s lackluster sales numbers. Dual-core Tegra 2 components and the latest Android build is expected to give the A100 an edge against the original Galaxy Tab, which fits into the same price bracket.

The Walmart leak suggests the A100 may be set to ship sometime in the near future, however a launch date has yet to be confirmed.
