Kodansha’s Magazine Special Manga to Cease Publishing

magazinespecialPublishing industry trade journal Shinbunka reported on Tuesday that Kodansha’s Magazine Special manga magazine will cease publication with its February 2017 issue on January 20.

The magazine began in 1983, and serves as a sister publication to both Weekly Shōnen Magazine and Monthly Shōnen Magazine, and titles from both magazines often moved to Magazine Special. The magazine publishes every 20th day of the month. The magazine is currently serializing such manga as Daiju Yanauchi’s Gang King, Toshihiko Kobayashi’s Pastel, Sanbanchi Kawa’s Dreams. Some series that finished serialization in the magazine include Suteki Tantei Labyrinth, School Rumble Z, and Psycho Busters. Mantohihi Binta launched a manga adaptation of the upcoming TRICKSTER anime in the magazine on June 20.

The latest issue of the magazine (seen right) shipped on July 20.
