TheWrap brings word that Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner, whose credits include 100 Things to Do Before High School and Growing Up Fisher, is being eyed for the female lead of the upcoming Transformers 5. Moner would play Izabella, described as “a street-smart tomboy who grew up an orphan and was raised in foster care.” The young character’s only friend is said to be a small Transformer, until she meets none other than Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager.

Production on Transformers 5 is set to begin this summer in Detroit with shooting to pick up in other spots around the world. Michael Bay returns to the director’s chair for the film, which is set to be written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce the sequel.

Transformers 5 is currently set to debut in theaters on June 23, 2017. It will be followed by a Bumblebee spin-off film in 2018, with Transformers 6 landing in 2019.

Combined, the previous four Transformers films have brought in over $3.7 billion at the global box office with 2014’s “Age of Extinction” the second-highest grossing in the series.
