Intel Buys Egyptian Firm SySDSoft to Aid in 4G Efforts

Intel has released a statement that it has acquired the majority of Cairo-based SySDSoft. This grows Intel’s ranks of engineers and scientists by a 100 or so. SySDSoft makes IP solutions in the software stack and physical layer domain along with RF/analog circuits for embedded mobile platforms.

The investment will accelerate Intel Mobile Communications’ 4G LTE and WiMAX efforts to build computing platforms that are always connected and energy efficient. The chips will be included into notebooks, vehicles, smartphones, tablets and TVs.

SySDSoft’s current products have support for a range of wireless communications technologies, including WiMAX, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wireless USB and LTE.
