HDI 3D Shows Ultra-Expensive 3D Projectors

HDI 3D, announced on Wednesday that it will begin shipping a range of 3D projectors starting next year. The ultra high-end devices use laser-driven engines and differ only in exterior styling. Each of the six models can be had with a 120-, 200- or 300-inch HDI Laser Silver Screen though the latter two sizes requiring two Laser-Drive Engines.

All are hand-made in the US and offer stereoscopic 2K image quality. The first Laser Engine uses 360W of power at 3A and the second 240W at 2A for a total draw of 600W at 5A. They offer 1,080 frames per second and 360 color frames per second per eye.

The models are called Industrial, LSS Pro 1, Origami, Minimal, Space Station and Polygon. The single Laser-Drive Engine models with a 120-inch screen will cost $55,000, with the dual-drive versions and a 200-inch screen $75,000 and the range-topping 300-inch dual-engined models priced at $80,000. All but 100 preproduction units of the LSS Pro 1 are due out in the fall of 2012, with the early units coming on February 14 of next year.
