Citrix Online has announced that GoToMyPC — a simplified remote-access solution — is now available for the iPad on the App Store, allowing users to remotely access Windows or Mac files, programs and other network resources. The program uses 128-bit AES encryption and dual passwords to protect data being send and received wirelessly, and features up to 300 percent zooming and multi-touch gestures to work efficiently on an iPad.
The free app requires that users install GoToMyPC or GoToMyPC for Mac, both of which have 30-day free trials, on their home machines, which requires a monthly subscription. The program fast and reliable yet secure login, works over Wi-Fi or 3G networks, and uses a customized soft keyboard to make it possible to work on the iPad in a fashion similar to a desktop or notebook computer.
The program also features a text preview mode that automatically corrects spelling and capitalization as a user types before sending to the host computer. It will automatically disconnect after a user-determined period of inactivity to prevent unauthorized access.
