Fusion-io has expanded its enterprise SSD line with two new drive systems, the ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo. Thoughput maxes at 3.0GB/s read and 2.6 GB/s write speed for the 1.2TB model ioDrive2 Duo. The drives feature low latency access for mixed workloads with 15 microsecond write latency, over 700,000 read IOPS and over 900,000 write IOPS. An intelligent self-healing feature called provides complete, chip-level fault tolerance, which enables the drives to continue to function without interruption after a single- or a multi-chip failure.

The new SSDs are supported on all major operating systems, including all 64-bit Windows and Windows Server versions, Mac OSX 10.6.7/10.7, RHEL 4/5/6, SLES 10/11, OEL v5/6, VMware ESX 4.0/4.1/ESXi 4.1/5.0, Solaris 10 U8/U9 and and HP-UX 11i.

The ioDrive2 is a half-height card that uses PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slot, while the full height ioDrive2 Duo uses PCI-Express 2.0 x8.

The ioDrive2 will be available with single-level cell NAND (SLC) in 400GB and 600GB capacity. Multi-level cell NAND (MLC) ioDrive2 models will be available in 365GB, 785GB, and 1.2TB sizes.

The ioDrive2 Duo will be available in 1.2TB and 2.4TB capacity.

The Fusion-io MLC ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo units will be available beginning in late November 2011, followed by the SLC ioDrive2 products. Pricing for the new drives starts at $5,950. Fusion-io says it already has commitments for the first production run.
