Fujifilm today joined the long list of camera firms releasing info about units before the Photokina show. The FinePix F300EXR is one of the first cameras to use a second-generation EXR sensor that adds phase detection into the sensor itself. The very fast autofocus uses phase detection to capture bright subjects but switch to contrast autofocus in the dark. A gyroscopic sensor also improves the practical sensitivity as it can better compensate for sudden or dramatic movements and lower the ISO needed to get a stable shot.

The camera come with 15X 24-360mm optics and shoots 720p video with HDMI out. The three-inch LCD is high contrast for both outdoor visibility and better off-angle viewing. Motion panorama capturing, multi-shot pro focus and other software features from recent Fujifilm cameras carry over.

The F300EXR is due to arrive in late August for $330.
