Daniel RadcliffeIt was reported back in February that Daniel Radcliffe was in final negotiations to play Igor in a new Frankenstein movie for Fox. We still haven’t had official confirmation on the main cast, but a release date has been set.

Fox has revealed that they plan to release Frankenstein on October 17th, 2014. The date is far enough away that it could easily be moved, but it’s currently set to open on the same weekend as Kitchen Sink, the vampire, zombie, and alien movie from Sony. Both movies have yet to start production, so don’t be surprised if the release dates end up changing.

Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin) was brought on last year to direct the film from a script written by Max Landis (Chronicle) that puts the focus on Frankenstein’s assistant. The movie is expected to put a new spin on the Frankenstein story, as opposed to directly following the book, and we previously learned that that the story will be more of a sci-fi take on the material. Production was expected to begin this fall, so we should have more details in the coming months.
